The One Thing We Do Use: Cookies for HintFlow™
When you access HintFlow™ by scanning the QR code in your book, we need to remember that you own that book.
Here's how it works:
When you first scan the QR code, the system verifies you have the physical book (through the unique code placed on a specific page). Once verified, we place a small cookie in your browser that says, essentially: "This person has Book X."
This cookie lets you:
- Come back to your puzzles without re-verifying each time
- Pick up where you left off
- Access hints and solutions smoothly
What this cookie contains:
- A reference to which book you own
- When you verified access
- Nothing else—no name, no location, no browsing history
What we do with this information:
- Nothing. It lives in your browser. We don't collect it, store it on our servers, or look at it.
How long it lasts:
- 6 months – long enough that you don't have to re-verify constantly, but not forever
You're in control:
- You can delete this cookie anytime through your browser settings
- If you do, you'll just need to enter the code again next time you visit
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Use this website without being tracked
- Know what data exists (in this case: virtually none)
- Delete the HintFlow™ cookie whenever you want
